    Waiting list update

    Register on our waiting list

    We have spaces in our Beaver Colony starting January 2027 and spaces in our Cub Pack and Scout Troop may arise. Read on for details.

    We regularly take young people from our waiting list at the start of each term. As well as the predicted spaces shown below, places also arise in all of the sections where someone leaves, e.g., due to moving out of the area. So whatever your age group, it is always worth being on the waiting list.

    • Beavers (6-8 yrs) – spaces
      • January 2027 – 3 spaces
      • April 2027 – 1 space predicted
      • September 2027 – 6 spaces predicted
    • Cubs (8-101/2 yrs) – currently full
    • Scouts (101/2 – 14 yrs) – currently full

    For those wanting to join our Beaver Colony we suggest registering on our waiting list when a child reaches their 4th birthday, if not before.

    There is no waiting list for those wishing to join our leader and support teams – adult volunteers are always welcome!

    Our hall is currently available for hire on Monday evenings, mid afternoon on weekdays, and most Sundays.

    About 7th Malden

    We are a popular, and successful Scout Group in New Malden with vibrant Beaver, Cub and Scout sections and excellent links with the Explorer units in the local area which serve the over 14s. We offer a full programme of meetings, camps and events in all our sections. All activities are run according to UK Scout Association policies, organisation and rules.

    We have strong teams of adult leaders and supporters, a sociable bunch who enjoy each others company both in and out of Scouting and join enthusiastically in the activities which the young people are doing.

    Why should the kids have all the fun!

    As well as weekly meetings in term time and camps, the Group specialises in archery, air rifle shooting, hill-walking, light-weight expeditions, wild camps and climbing. We like to throw in water activities such as raft biulding, kayaking and sailing too.

  • Mountain Weekend

    Mountain Weekend

    Some photos from the Older Scouts Mountain weekend in Snowdonia.

    On Saturday 3 groups set out on 2 separate routes walking/ scrambling up to the cantilever stone near Glyder Fawr. All groups walked around 11km with 1,000m of ascent. Gusty winds prevented one group from going up on the stone, but these had subsided once other groups got there.

    On Sunday Scouts focused more on navigation skills than experiencing challenging terrain, on lower ground in finer weather.

    Great fun!

  • Going Wild!

    Going Wild!

    Over the early May Bank Holiday weekend, Scouts from 7th Malden Troop held a wild camp on Dartmoor. Starting from the western edge near Peter Tavy they hiked into the interior of the moor camping overnight near a water source.

    The following day, they explored places of interest on the Merrivale Range including standing stones, stone circles, industrial archaeology and various tors before camping on the edge of the moor to return to London in good time to prepare for school on Tuesday!

    At a recent meeting, Scouts explored the use of artificial intelligence tools to write limericks reflecting Scouting values and to generate images on a number of themes (some wackier than others)!
